Autumn Luxpo 2016, Kensington Roof Gardens

The speed dates gather at Luxpo 2016

I had my last fix of travel industry speed-dating back in May so it was time to see if my co-ordination skills had improved at all when invited back for the event billed as “the biggest day in luxury travel".

Luxpo is created and organised by the fab April Hutchinson from Travel Trade Gazette and her ttgluxury team. Hosted on this occasion at Kensington Roof Gardens, it brings together selected luxury travel agents and suppliers.

Twenty-five back-to-back, 7-minute meetings; around the world in (almost) 180 minutes.

Not just a fair bit to absorb, focus and learn but not far short of a “Generation Game” challenge when you factor in shaking hands, exchanging business cards, collecting sales and promotional materials, your glass of water, packing all away again and moving to the next table when the gong sounds trying to avoid causing delay to the next contestant, sorry, travel agent, behind you. It keeps you alert, that’s for sure.

It probably wasn’t the best preparation to be exhausted with jetlag having flown back from the Jamaica educational only 48 hours prior.

The afternoon flew by and thank you to the ttgluxury team and all that I had the pleasure of seeing again or meeting the first time.

My head was swimming with intimate Australian cruises, the Rugby World Cup in Japan, Aruba & Costa Rica, stunning lodges in New Zealand, Montana ranches, the Barcelona Grand Prix and several new hotel openings. We will of course share all you need to know over the weeks and months ahead.
