Wild in Borneo with Dame Judi Dench

Dame Judi Dench recently graced our screens with her perfectly delivered two-part Wild in Borneo documentary.

If you’re looking for a wild adventure, combined with a luxury beach stay, it doesn’t get better than a trip to Borneo. The show begins with Judi’s arrival in the beautiful country, clinking champagne glasses with her partner David Mills. I could tell from the islands in the background that she was staying at Shangri-La Tangung Aru. I was lucky enough to stay here too during my recent visit to Malaysia, so it was wonderful to see the resort again. We saw Judi battle with her emotions as she saw the incredible variety of unique wildlife including the wonderful Orangutans (people of the forest) in their natural environment. The rainforest in Borneo is one of the oldest in the world and is home to some of the most unusual species. As many of the species are endangered, this was a topic very close to my heart. I have just returned from this incredible country and I agree with Judi, it really pulls at your heartstrings. Many other species were seen during the show, including a flying fox and Armadillos. Sadly I wasn’t lucky enough to cross paths with these, so I began thinking that I may need to plan a second trip. If you are inspired to consider this wonderful destination for that next special experience, please do come and talk to me. Julie
