Client Blog: Arc 1950 Le Village, Bourg-Saint-Maurice, France

Arc 1950 Le Village, Bourg-Saint-Maurice, France

Booking a skiing holiday – especially for the first time – can be daunting, so we were pleased that Tracey and her family chose us. They opted for one of our new Inspire Me Selections, Arc 1950 Le Village, in the French Alps and seemed to like it a lot, as Tracey reports: “We decided to go for a Ski Holiday. We are an active family, the kids are at a great age (6 and 8) and we thought it would be a great activity to do as a family. We flew from Gatwick and arrived at Geneva Airport to find the private taxi, arranged by Julie, already waiting to take us to our resort. The transfer time was 4 hours but it was a very comfortable journey (on the way back it took only 3 hours). We stayed in an apartment within a hotel complex. There was a pull-down double sofa bed and two single beds. Not huge but adequate. There was also a little kitchenette area with table and chairs – a bonus as it enabled us to have breakfast in the room. Any resort is only as good as the staff, and we could not fault the team at Les Arcs. The Ski School teachers were amazing. As this was our first ski holiday with young children, I was reluctant to send them off for their first morning lesson, but my mind was soon put at rest when they came back. They had a great time. I was amazed how organised the ski groups were.

The kids loved the skiing but they also loved the sledging which was available within a 2-3 minute ski lift ride to the next resort up. Sledges could be hired from the resorts at a minimal charge. The family prepare for ski slope action. There was a great atmosphere in the resort, pretty lights in the evening and the scenery was amazing. To experience that with the kids, being up so high in the mountains and looking over the clouds was one of my memorable moments. Would we return? I believe we would. It had everything we asked for. The other plus was it was all pedestrianised so it felt very safe with the kids. Personally I don’t think ski holidays are cheap when you take into account ski passes and so on. However you get what you pay for and we were more than happy with our package. It was important for us to have a ski-in and ski-out resort with plenty of restaurants and facilities close by. For our first ski holiday I did not have a clue what I was booking. Julie was amazing and got it spot on. Everything was arranged to perfection.” Tracey
