India conjures up fantastic, mystical images: the Taj Mahal, the holy river Ganges, tigers, turbans, saris, great food and rickshaws.

There is the hustle and excitement of the cities of Delhi and Jaipur, the serene Taj Mahal plus the tigers in Ranthambore National Park.

The people are hospitable and diverse, the trains fun and the food a delight. This is a full and rewarding holiday.

Many of the sights in North India are a testament to the great Moghul Emperors of the 15th and 16th centuries whose legacy includes magnificent buildings like the Taj Mahal, the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri and the Jama Masjid in Delhi - the largest mosque in India.

In addition, there are great buildings from the British Raj; the seat of government in Delhi and the famous India Gate from where tree lined avenues radiate and are a reminder of how important Delhi was to the British.

In contrast to the great monuments, there is time to explore Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary and Ranthambore National Park each with a distinct character and ecosystem.

Ranthambore is home to tiger and the park has an abundance of prey animals, monkeys and bird life. While in the park there will be time to go on tiger safari, to try and catch a glimpse of the elusive animals.
