Introducing Lawrence Freedman, co-owner of Alf Onnie

Each month we introduce you to one of our fellow members of the Redbridge chapter of Business Network International (BNI). It means we’re well connected and are able to recommend all kinds of reliable services. When you come into the shop or speak to us to book your next dream holiday, we can also recommend a virtual assistant, structural engineer, personal trainer, golf coach, or even a plumber to fix that leaky tap. Have a look through some of our featured associates here.

This month we’re introducing Lawrence Freedman, proud co-owner of Alf Onnie, a curtains, blinds and plantation shutter specialist who have been trading for an impressive 98 years.

Established in 1920 by Lawrence's grandfather, Alf Onnie who traded materials on his bicycle, the company has evolved into a respected family business that always puts the customer first.

Joined in 1985 by his son-in-law, Brian Freedman, the early 1980s saw the expansion of the business with brothers Lawrence, Kevin and Jeremy Freedman, to establish what is now a renowned curtain, blind and shutter supplier.

Offering bespoke, made-to-measure and ready-made curtains, blinds, shutters, awnings, accessories and more, the team work with interior designers, landlords and property developers to equip residential and commercial properties with the best curtains and blinds.

Designing and creating products to each client's specifications, the team will always go the extra mile to make sure they have the solution for you. Likewise, they are proud of their contract work with businesses of all sizes as well as establishments such as schools and theatres where curtains and interiors are vital.

Featured in BBC's The Fixer, the team worked with Alex Polizzi and external consultants and have optimised and transformed the business to be able to provide the best customer service along with access to their revamped showroom with over 10,000 fabrics available.

If you are interested in their services, Alf Onnie’s retail shop in High Street North, E6 is open 7 days a week, or you can get in touch for a personal introduction.
