First Look: Hotel Byron, Forte dei Marmi

Uniquely positioned between the dramatic mountain range of the Apuan Alps, dazzling with white marble caps that give the illusion of snow, and the glistening sea with expansive beaches, Hotel Byron is just a 20-minute drive from Pisa airport; ideal for travelling from the UK.

The real heaven of the area are the perfect rows of beautifully coloured striped umbrellas of the different beach clubs, which we always recommend to book well in advance. When not on the beach, Forte dei Marmi is a serious fashionista and foodie paradise with all the top brands on display for clients and partnered with some of Italy’s finest cuisine.

Hotel Byron, family run and owned, is a charming 5-star boutique hotel which is as luxurious as the aristocratic villa in which it is located. What makes this luxury hotel even more unique and special is its past: the villa was built during the first half of the 20th Century by the renowned Duke of Zoagli, who gave the building it's distinguishable "Art Nouveau" style.

With only 30 rooms and suites available, guests immediately feel the intimacy. Fully renovated in 2018, the accommodation ensures that contemporary styles meet the expectations of their high-end clients.

Rooms are spacious and bright with lots of colours. Views overlook the vastness of the Mediterranean Sea, offering spectacular nightly sunsets, or alternatively the shaded tranquillity of the private garden with views over the Apuan Alps.

With the talented Michelin-starred chef Cristoforo Trapani at the helm of the kitchen, the menu captures the imagination with simple but delicious flavours, offering a rich culinary fusion of Tuscan and Campanian cuisine. With particular emphasis on the quality of local and seasonal produce, Chef Trapani conjures up unique dishes to showcase the region's finest ingredients, resulting in an ever-changing menu ensuring guests will always find something new and exciting to sample.

Families and couples alike can relax and enjoy the peaceful setting, with beautiful gardens and an outdoor pool to cool off from the Tuscan heat. With the beach just a stone’s throw away, guests can spend long days enjoying the sun, sea and sand at one of the many beach clubs.

For those looking for a more active break, horseback riding, golf and tennis are available. Not to mention the great hiking options amongst the marble caves of the Apuan Alps. Boat trips can also be arranged to see the colourful hilltop villages of nearby Cinque Terre, or visits to stunning historic cities, such as Lucca and Pietrasanta.
