Boston In Winter

Carly and family spend December in Boston

Well, why not? Never could turn down a family trip, so after seeing New York and Chicago on previous trips, the next target was New England.

After a 6-hour flight to America's east coast and a quick cab ride we checked into Loews Boston Hotel. It's located on Berkeley Street, a perfect base from where to explore.

A few people mentioned that Boston is a walkable city and it really is. So lovely to spend a day looking around locally - you stumble across beautiful churches in the middle of the city, and beautiful buildings like the Boston Public Library, which opened in 1854.

We decided to do the hop-on hop-off bus for 2 days as well. This is highly recommended as it takes you around the whole of the city, allowing you to get on and off as you please.

Sites include Boston Common, Cambridge, Cheers Bar, Old State House and Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox.

Sugary treats on tap at Cheesecake Factory

Christmas was in full swing, which was lovely and festive. Faneuil Hall put on a lovely sound and light show to Christmas carols. Of course there were restaurants too – highlights included an Italian delight called Maggianos (soooo good) and a visit to The Cheesecake Factory.

I wish we'd had a little longer to see even more. Of course this only means one thing... another trip to Boston.
