First Look: Carrossa Hotel Spa Villas, Mallorca

Blending the old with the new can create something special, as guests at the new Carrossa Hotel Spa Villas will testify.

Situated in the north east of Mallorca near the historic town of Artà, the five-star resort with just 75 luxurious rooms and suites, was once an old farmhouse.

After renovating in May 2018, it has proved an attractive new destination for those looking to discover an authentic Mallorcan experience in stunning surroundings.

It’s also an ideal base to explore the island’s golf courses – 23 of them to be precise – to suit all budgets and abilities as you make your way from Palma airport.

In fact, there are two fantastic courses within a short drive: Capdepera and Son Servera. The two courses, which are universally recognised as the best on the island, are no more than 40 minutes away from the peaceful retreat that is Carrossa.

There are reduced rates and golf packages in abundance available, which can be tailored to suit any length of stay.

Whether it’s an action-packed golf break or perhaps a gentle round or two mixed in with some sightseeing, Carrossa is an ideal place to unwind afterwards.

Perhaps after a round or on a day when the clubs are taking a well-earned break, gazing out over the landscape from the terrace of the Badia Bistro with a beverage of choice may not erase all of life’s worries, but it can certainly help push them aside for a while.

As well as a five-star hotel with an exceptional spa, there are now four villas on site, which can house up to 10 people with ease. Two of those are new for 2019 – a four-bedroom and a five-bedroom property – which are brimming with comfort and style.

Owned by Hamacher Hotels & Resorts, the hotel is centred around the old Manor House, in which you will find 30 of the 75 rooms and suites. The exterior is old sandstone but inside you’ll be blown away by modern style – the slick Oro Bar, for example, has raspberry-coloured bar stools and a comfy lounge dominated by silver and pink floral patterned chairs.

Next to the Oro Bar is the fine dining Carrossa restaurant with a menu that includes innovative Mediterranean dishes and Asian influences. Mallorcan wines on offer include award-winning Cabernet Sauvignons and Viogniers from Bodegas Angel, halfway between Palma and Inca.

The hotel is also home to a stunning 1,500m2 state-of-the-art wellness centre, built and designed to the highest specification with saunas, steam bath, ice fountain, and a wide selection of massage, beauty and special treatments, as well as a high-tech gym.

The former manor ground gardens are also home to an inviting heated outdoor panoramic infinity pool and deck.

Away from the golf courses, if you’re looking for culture and secluded beaches, there is plenty to enjoy nearby – either on foot or on one of the many cycle routes.

And if an adventure on the ocean is more to your liking, the new Carrossa yacht can be booked for day trips or packages, complete with its own skipper and all of the five-star touches you would expect.

Mallorca is already an island full of appealing choices and Carrossa’s authentic brand of luxury can only add to any experience.

Standard rooms start from €180 per night B&B, classic suites cost from €265 per night B&B, while villa prices start from €720 per day.
