Santiburi Koh Samui, Thailand
Located on the quiet north shore of Koh Samui, Santiburi is a beachfront haven. This blissful escape is perfect for those looking for a hideaway, with 23 acres of tropical foliage and lotus ponds. Each suite and villa offers exceptional privacy, traditional Thai décor and modern amenities.
"At Santiburi Koh Samui Resort a water feature tinkles in the centre of the large reception area, with a large gong, parquet flooring, beautiful orchids and Thai decor.
Red parasols, palm trees and frangipani surround the large swimming pool. Swim and enjoy a coconut water. Lily pads flower amongst tropical foliage in the sunshine.
Palm trees reflect in the water and cast leafy shadows on the path to the beach. A river flows through the resort. Santiburi overlooks an extensive pristine sandy beach on Koh Samui's north shore yet is just a 10-minute drive from local restaurants and shops.
Chill in woven hammocks and swing gently beneath palm trees on the white sandy beach. Listen to the soothing sound of lapping waves, the quiet beach overlooks blue skies and aqua sea towards the island of Koh Phangan.
Golf buggies can take you to your suite through the lush grounds, a staff member cycles past. Exquisitely designed suites and villas feature modern design blended with warm contemporary Thai décor. Along with decadent dining, the resort features one of the island's largest swimming pools, a superb spa and an extensive sports centre.
Cocktails alfresco at The Beach House as the sky turns a midnight blue - we love the wigwam-style glasses as much as the happy hour drinks!
Dinner is at Sala Thai restaurant. We sit outside on an elegant elevated pavilion on the balcony listening to the frog song in the palm trees.
Inside the restaurant, a lady plays a Thai melody on the string instrument ‘Kim’. For starters we devour delicious, juicy duck wontons, wrapped prawns and the grilled lobster in red curry is absolutely incredible.
Santiburi is one of the most established and popular luxury resorts. A superb beachfront location at Mae Nam on the north coast, just 15 minutes from the airport. One of the best beach locations on the island, 300 m long with soft sand and easy sea access, generally at its best from March to October.
Great beach, stylish accommodation and good facilities ensure Santiburi has attractions for all the family. Activities include Golf at Santiburi Samui Country Club, Thai boxing, jogging, tennis, sailing and fishing, Lèn Spa, and a Sports Centre.
The Fisherman’s Village in Bophut area is about a 10 minutes drive, with a walking street with street food vendors and restaurants and great shopping. Make sure you catch an incredible fire show on the beach! The lively resort of Chaweng is about a 25-minute drive away, fun for a night out.
You can get a taxi or even hitch a colourful Songthaew shared taxi truck around the island. Pass songbirds in bamboo (not gilded) cages and Durian fruit - apparently they taste great if you can get past the smell! For good vibrations, visit Big Buddha Temple and climb the stairs to ring reverberating bells for good luck.
Ang Thong National Marine Park is well worth a day boat trip to the postcard-perfect archipelago (42 islands) in azure waters. A tropical paradise with lush greenery, untouched ivory beaches, and crystal-clear waters. Visit the Elephant Sanctuary or Elephant Spa for a special moment feeding retired elephants and even stroke a baby elephant!"
