California Dreaming:


In San Francisco, check out Yosemite National Park. See Golden Gate Bridge, Carmel, and Monterey in the north. Drive several hours south on Route 101 from Big Sur to Los Angeles. Head for Pismo beach, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Off Route 101, is the infamous themed hotel Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, and take a tour of Hearst Castle.


Visit Will Rogers beach and Santa Monica pier in Los Angeles. Relax in an open-air pool cabana at the luxury hotel Viceroy Hotel. Or sit poolside, grab lunch, and swim in the ocean at Annenberg Beach House on the beach.


In Malibu, the best beach is at Point Dume, a state park with amazing cliffs, beach, and dolphin-spotting.

West Hollywood has fun bars and live music, from drag brunch to classic rock venue Whisky a Go Go on Sunset Boulevard to Sound nightclub for dancing.



A hike in the Palisades, the cascading waterfall of Santa Ynez Falls, or Trippet Ranch to Topanga State Park is beautiful. Try roller skating from Venice to Santa Monica.
