Our holiday to Japan was built around Simon running the Tokyo Marathon.
The two-week trip was absolutely fantastic, due in no small part to the faultless organization from Sharron at Abbotts Travel and Inside Japan Tours.

We began in Tokyo which was as surreal as imagined, a real culture shock and so incredibly interesting, even if the food was a little challenging for someone who does not like fish or eggs.
Next, we visited the mountainous town Hakone (in Japan's Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park), which could not have been more of a contrast. We stayed in a stunning Ryokan in the mountains which was the epitome of Zen. Although Mount Fuji did not come out from the clouds, we did, however, manage to see her on the plane home!
It was a peaceful couple of days before we took the bullet train to Kyoto, a fabulous fusion of Ancient Imperial Japan and Westernisation.
In Tokyo and Kyoto, full-day guides were arranged via Sharron at Abbotts Travel by Inside Japan Tours, which were invaluable. On our last day, we caught the train to Osaka for the Sumo Tournament which was quite an experience and yet another unforgettable adventure in a holiday littered with memorable moments.
What a fantastic time we had in Japan, it really was an amazing experience. All travel arrangements, information, accommodation, and tickets were faultless. A big thank you to Sharron at Abbotts Travel and the team at Inside Japan Tours for organising such an unforgettable holiday.
